At The Hawthorns School we aim to raise the attainment of all pupils, through increased challenge and opportunity. We must be open to pushing back the boundaries of education in order to develop and realise the potential of individuals.

We actively seek to identify and enhance each child’s strengths whilst understanding his or her unique personality and needs. A careful tracking system, comparing standardised testing (eg: PIPS) with internal assessments and teachers’ professional judgements, ensures progression and continuity for all. In making learning as personalised as possible, we run initiatives such as MOPPS (Management of Pupil Potential) to pursue areas of excellence. Guidance and help come from our Special Needs (SENCo) and Able Pupil (ABCo) Co-ordinators too, who work closely with teaching staff.
